No matter the console, the advent of next generational hardware means an inevitable end of official support towards legacy hardware. Fortunately, thanks to dedicated fans and modders, consoles such as the PlayStation 3, have found a second life with features made possible with the installation of custom firmware and various loaders.
With the recent release of the strangely named, PS3HENTAI exploit, which essentially stands for homebrew enabler (a derivative of the previously released HEN enabler), grants the ability for homebrew on every revision of the PlayStation 3 hardware. Previously, it was only possible to run custom firmware on launch PlayStation 3 units and early slim models. With the release of HENTAI, all models, including newer slim PS3’s and Super Slim models can now enjoy most of the benefits of custom firmware.
With second-hand PlayStation 3’s that can, often times, be had for less than $130, the ability to run homebrew opens the door to a ton of fun that can be had without breaking the bank. Those interested in the full feature list that HENTAI brings can read an excerpt from the release notes below:
What is HEN?:
HEN stands for Homebrew ENabler. it also consists of much more new functions relatively close to a CFWHow Does it Work?:
Install HAN Enabler. Copy PS3HEN.BIN, HENTAI.pkg and stackframe.bin(READ:rename) to /dev_usb000 and run the HTML.
Once done, go to Package manager and install the HENTAI.pkg and reboot console
From now on to enable HEN simply use usb000 stackframe.bin and PS3HEN.BIN and run html…HEN ENABLED!Features:
