Avengers: Endgame Passes $2 Billion Internationally, Is Second Highest Grossing Film Behind Avatar

After only two weekends in theatres, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ has passed $2.188 billion, securing it as the second-highest international grossing film behind James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’.

Shooting past the longtime classic ‘Titanic’ this Sunday, ‘Endgame’ is in a prime position to make up the last $600 million that stands between it and ‘Avatar’. Deadline reports that it is the fifth movie to hit the $2B benchmark, and it did so in 11 days; something that took ‘Avatar’ 47. With those metrics, it seems like ‘Endgame’ has a straight shot to becoming the number one grossing film worldwide over the next month. This week’s ‘Detective Pikachu’ could distract audiences a bit, but both properties are veritable powerhouses, so the drag shouldn’t be too severe. The film continues to set records around the world, becoming the biggest all-time Hollywood release in China, studio release in India, and film industry release in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, UAE, Mexico, Colombia, and many others.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ has shown us the power of long-running, well-executed cinematic sagas, and it’s unlikely that Marvel Studios’ feat here will be replicated any time soon. We’re all eagerly watching to see just how high this film can climb, and CGMagazine will be sure to keep you up to date.
