Bethesda E3 2019 Press Conference Run Down

Capping off the first day of E3 2019, Bethesda just concluded their press event, taking the opportunity to announce several new projects, in addition to giving viewers, an extended look at some, already announced games.

Pete Hines took to the stage to greet the audience and viewers online, before recapping all the games released earlier in the year and in 2018.

Todd Howard took to the stage, acknowledging the controversy surrounding Fallout 76 and its rocky launch. From here, fans got their first look at new content for the Elder Scrolls: Blades. The update will bring a new dragon questline, a solo arena mode among other new additions. The update will be available tonight. Finally, The Elder Scrolls: Blades will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Blades will launch this Fall on the Switch.

Fallout 76 will be getting new content in the form of an expansion called Wastelanders. The update will finally bring to it, real NPC characters, complete with branching dialogue trees. Best of all, the Wastelanders update will be free and will be available this Fall. To celebrate E3 2019, Fallout 76 will be getting a free trial, stating to tomorrow. The trial will include new content, in the form of a 52-player Battler Royale mode, known as Nuclear Winter.

Shinji Mikami of Tango Gameworks and Resident Evil fame, took to the stage, first acknowledging his Tokyo team, before announcing their next game. Ghostwire Tokyo. The will be an action adventure title that pits players against supernatural forces. Ikumi Nakamura, the creative director over at Tango, took over, delving into further details surrounding Ghostwire Tokyo.

The premise of the game begins with the people of Tokyo disappearing, in which players must discern between the mundane with the otherworldly.

Matt Firor, the Studio Director for ZeniMax, took to the stage, thanking the audience and the player base for The Elder Scrolls Online. A new trailer for the Elswery expansion dropped with a sneak peek at Dragonhold, finishing the season of the Dragon content update for the game.

Another surprise announcement from Zenimax came in the form of a brand new mobile experience based on the beloved Commander Keen franchise of action platformers. The reboot will be available on iOS and Android, with a soft-launch planned for this Summer. Readers interested can sign up over at gokeen.com

A trailer for the Elder Scrolls Legends was shown off that featured an elaborate CGI dragon superimposed with live action segments. June 27 will see the release of the Moons of Elswery expansion.

Rage 2 will also see an update that introduces new vehicles, physics modifiers (cheats), new enemies and story beats. The update will be known as Insanity Rules.

Wolfenstein fans looking forward to the VR only, Wolfenstein Cyberpilot, can look forward to the game this July. Wolfenstein Young Blood will release this Summer. The title is set two decades after the events of the New Colossus, with an emphasis on co-op Nazi-killing-action.

A trailer for a game called Deathloop was shown off. The title evokes a retro aesthetic with signature Arkane Studio gameplay.

ID tech showcased their latest game streaming technology known as Orion. Orion priorities game engines specifically for game streaming services such as Stadia and xCloud. Orion promises to reduce up to 20% of the bandwidth data required for streaming titles, making Orion the ideal platform for streaming games. A demo was shown off Doom 2016 running on a mobile device through the Orion tech backing it. A new trailer for Doom Eternal was shown off, featuring the first look at some brand new enemies and environments, including what appears to be heaven. Doom Eternal will release November 22 2019. A collectors edition will be available that includes a wearable Doom Slayer helmet. A new multiplayer mode known as BattleMode was also teased. The mode will feature two players that assume the role of the demons while hunting another, fully-decked out Doom Slayer, player-character.

Overall, Bethesda had a fairly safe E3 2019, with Orion and the new look at Doom being the two highlights of the show.
