Warframe Unveils New Cinematic Intro by Director Dan Trachtenberg

Warframe Unveils New Cinematic Intro from 10 Cloverfield Lane Director

Warframe developer Digital Extremes showcased a brand new cinematic intro for the game during TennoCon 2019 from 10 Cloverfield Lane and Uncharted director Dan Trachtenberg.

The new introduction is a cinematic flashback to an older era in the Warframe universe. It depicts three Warframes (Excalibur, Mag, and Volt) fighting in the Old War against Dax Warriors and Proto-Grineer using their signature abilities. Digital Extremes aims for the new intro to give players a better understanding on both the first Warframes that they can choose when they start playing and to give them a glimpse of a more comprehensive storyline. The new introduction is planned to be incorporated into the game itself in late 2019/early 2020.

As for how Digital Extremes came to collaborate with Dan Trachtenberg for the cinematic, it was simple: Trachtenberg is a huge fan of Warframe, and reached out to Digital Extremes himself to work with them.

“Getting to work so collaboratively with the dev team at DE has been an awesome experience,” says Trachtenberg. “As a massive fan of the game myself, having logged in hundreds of hours of play time, it’s been so much fun crafting a story that both sets up the universe for new players in a pretty epic way, while sprinkling it with moments that, I hope, make it doubly rewarding for hardcore fans with a better understanding of the game’s lore.”
