EA Announces Need For Speed Heat, Set for November Release

Speeding Towards The Latest Release

Ghost Games’ third entry in the Need for Speed franchise, Need for Speed Heat, has been announced for a November 8th release.

The two-minute CG trailer, which you can watch below, is filled with Need for Speed staples: high-performance and customizable cars, racing through detailed urban settings, and the law butting heads with the underground street-racing scene.

Heat, the 16th entry in the mainline Need for Speed series, takes place in Palm City. According to the press release, players will race on beachfront straightaways and twisting downtown courses as well as a huge freeway for the inevitable big police chase.

Players will race in two series in Heat. There is a sanctioned daytime competition called the Speedhunters Showdown, where they earn money to buy and customize a fleet of cars. At night, they amass Rep (street cred, but a currency) in an underground racing series, where corrupt cops can potentially bust you and take your money.

Ghost Games, which was behind 2013’s Need for Speed Rivals, the 2015 reboot Need for Speed, and 2017’s Need for Speed Payback, will again be heading the development. “We’re delivering more options than ever before for players to be unique and make themselves known,” said Riley Cooper, Creative Director at Ghost Games. “Our fans have been clear that they want more cars, more customization, and more challenges, and we’re tuning up on every aspect. From your character’s style to your car’s performance and your driving style, we’re fuelling everyone’s creativity with this new game.”

Need for Speed Heat launches November 8th, 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Up to 10 hours of the game will be available on November 5th via EA Access and Origin Access Basic. The worldwide gameplay premiere will happen August 19th at Gamescom Opening Night Live, so we’ll have more on this to report very soon.
