Blair Witch Unleashes Its Spooky Action Today

After being announced at Microsoft’s E3 showcase a scant few months ago, the new Blair Witch game is coming out on Steam and Xbox One today.

Bloober Team, in a partnership with Lionsgate, has adapted the hit found footage Blair Witch franchise into first-person game form. This psychological horror title will have you questioning what you are most afraid of – the iconic witch (if it’s truly real), the woods, or the evil found within.

Blair Witch offers fans and new players their own descent into madness through an original story inspired by Lionsgate’s iconic franchise. Set in 1996, a young boy disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. Players seek to unravel the area’s mystery as Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, accompanied by his trustful canine companion, Bullet. Their story starts as they join the search for the missing boy, but they’ll soon discover the horrors that await as the woods twist into an endless nightmare. Ellis will have to confront his past, along with the mysterious force that haunts the woods.

The game will put players through the many dangers, stresses and tolls that the original story delivered, but with results varying in different playthroughs. In addition to the psychological experience, there is a balanced display of the beautiful environments, showcased in full in-game 4K; allowing adventurers a small moment of relief before venturing even deeper into the heart of madness. Blair Witch is Xbox One X enhanced for 4K gameplay, and supports 4K playability on PC.

Return to the dreadful woods today for $29.99 USD on PC via Steam and the Xbox One, via the Xbox Game Pass if you so choose. Blair Witch Deluxe Edition is also available for PC players on Steam for $34.99 USD. The Deluxe Edition includes Blair Witch, the Blair Witch original game soundtrack, and ‘The Art of Blair Witch’. This game has been something Blair Witch fans have imagined for quite a long time, and we hope that it brings the satisfying (or deliberately unsatisfying) experience they’ve been waiting for.
