Blumhouse Signs Gigi Saul Guerrero Onto Film And TV Deal 2

Gigi Saul Guerrero has agreed to a first look film and television deal with Blumhouse, under which she’ll perform writing and directing duties.

Under this agreement, Guerrero will write and direct scripted television programming and feature films for Blumhouse, according to Deadline. Guerrero is currently directing an episode of Blumhouse Television’s The Purge for USA. She recently made her feature-length directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Into the Dark’s Culture Shock, an installment of the movie-length episodes Blumhouse Television produces for Hulu. The pseudo-film has been making its way around the film festival circuit with near-universal praise, so it’s no wonder Blumhouse took notice.

“Gigi’s collaborations with our television division have been so rewarding, that we were eager to make Blumhouse a home for her compelling and edgy storytelling in film, as well as TV,” said Jason Blum, founder of Blumhouse.

Guererro herself reminisced about when Blumhouse’s productions inspired her during film school, and notes that: “Blumhouse has not only given me the opportunity to make my first feature, but the chance to discover what I’m capable of as a filmmaker. I am excited for what the future holds in this new and strong partnership. I’m incredibly thankful. Gracias!”

Writer, director, producer, and actress, Guerrero is the talented co-founder of Luchagore Productions. Her directing credits include such viral titles as A Luchagore Christmas, Evil Dead in 60 seconds, and the award-winning short film El Gigante. As an actress, she’s had roles in the Netflix animated series Super Monsters, Marvel Super Hero Adventures, Nina’s World, Sirens, Fun House, Inconceivable, and more. She is the recipient of the 2016 Vancouver Women in Film and Television “Artistic Innovation Award” and her series with Warner Brothers/Stage 13, La Quinceañera, won the Audience Award at the 2017 Morbido Film Festival. Guerrero is repped by Verve, Valor Entertainment, and MiloknayWeiner LLP.

We don’t know what Gigi Saul Guerrero plans to work on under Blumhouse’s banner, but we look forward to seeing what she’s got in store for us.
