There’s A New Jurassic World Short Film Out

Universal has released a brand-new Jurassic World short, directed by Colin Trevorrow and starring André Holland and Natalie Martinez.

The next Jurassic World movie (also directed by Trevorrow) won’t be along until 2021, so this is a fun little bonus for fans to sink their teeth into. Here’s the synopsis:

Battle At Big Rock takes place one year after the events of the last film in Big Rock National Park, where dinosaurs are now living in our world. The story follows a family of four whose encounter with these wild animals becomes a terrifying fight for survival.”

Sounds like some (definitely) cheesy (hopefully) goodness. It’s only eight minutes long, so here it is:

This may offer us a glimpse at whatever Trevorrow and company have planned for the next film. It’s in line with something Trevorrow said last year about what the uncaged dinosaurs are up to now in the Jurassic universe:

“I just have no idea what would motivate dinosaurs to terrorize a city. They can’t organize. Right now we’ve got lethal predators in wild areas surrounding cities all over the world. They don’t go pack hunting for humans in urban areas. The world I get excited about is the one where it’s possible that a dinosaur might run out in front of your car on a foggy backroad, or invade your campground looking for food. A world where dinosaur interaction is unlikely but possible—the same way we watch out for bears or sharks.

We hunt animals, we traffic them, we herd them, we breed them, we invade their territory and pay the price, but we don’t go to war with them. If that was the case, we’d have lost that war a long time ago.”

If you have any thoughts on this short or the low-key horror direction it seems the Jurassic World series will go in, sound off in the comments below. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any news on the inevitable next installment.
