Doom Eternal Delayed To March, Doom 64 Included With Pre-Orders

Publisher Bethesda Softworks and developer id Software have delayed DOOM Eternal to March 20th, 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Formerly releasing on November 22nd, 2019, Doom Eternal will now be delving into the depths of March instead. This news comes directly from id Software, who explained that they want to deliver the best experience possible, so they’ve delayed the game to ensure it meets their standards of speed and polish.

A few more tidbits regarding the game’s rollout were detailed as well. Invasion Mode, which allows you to enter another player’s game as a demon (a la Dark Souls), will release at an unspecified point after launch. The Nintendo Switch port will also come at a future date, which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Much more surprising is that Doom 64 will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in addition to Nintendo Switch as a pre-order bonus on all platforms. Doom 64 will be released on March 20th, 2020 on all platforms, which likely means you can buy it separately if you want.

You can expect Doom Eternal and Doom 64 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 20th, 2020, with Invasion Mode and the Nintendo Switch release coming at a later date. Having seen most of the released footage, the game already looks like it’s going to impress, so I’m not too worried about its quality. I am a little worried about the first four months of 2020, though. This is coming a scant couple weeks after Final Fantasy VII Remake, and that’s one hell of a place to be in.
