“There hasn’t been a ghost sighting in thirty years…”

After days of teasing with images, the first official trailer for Jason Reitman‘s Ghostbusters: Afterlife is finally here.

Taking place 35-years after the events of the past movies, Ghostbusters: Afterlife follows Egon’s Grandchildren as they uncover ghost hunting past of their iconic relative.

While none of the original cast was shown in this new trailer, it has been confirmed that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts will all make appearances in the film, although it is unclear to what extent. This movie is looking to be a followup, but also a passing of the torch movie, focusing on a new set of heroes, with Paul Rudd taking on the role of a teacher with knowledge of the original Ghostbusters.

It is hard to say from the trailer how the story will unfold (the mark of a good trailer) and gives us an introduction to the new cast of characters. Along with Paul Rudd, the cast will also include Oliver Cooper, Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim.

The Ghostbusters will return to theatres on July 10, 2020.
