As a post celebrating his birthday and the film’s progress, the photo hints at Snake Eye’s early past before the events of The Rise of Cobra and Retaliation.

But a cast and poster unveiling last month suggests the two live-action movies could be either retconned or rebooted with a new setting.

Of course, the silent ninja’s identity is expected to come full-circle by the movie’s credits. The image sees a younger Snake Eyes in training gear while approaching a type of monastery.

Golding’s face might also be the first unmasked appearance, while fans could witness the fateful moment which causes Snake Eyes to lose his face and voice.

Ray Park was the first actor to play the ninja in a live-action appearance in 2009 and 2013, before Golding accepted the role in August 2019.

Robert Schewntke (The Divergent Series, Red, The Time Traveler’s Wife) is directing the film while it’s set for release in theaters on October 23, 2020.

Snake Eyes also stars Iko Uwais and Andrew Koji, who will be playing Hard Master and Storm Shadow respectively.
