Xbox Series X specs revealed by Phil Spencer, Supports Full Backwards Compatibility, 120 FPS in Games

Xbox has shared its details for the upcoming Series X console, boasting a high-end AMD processor, accelerated graphics and SSD loading.

In a release by company head Phil Spencer, the Xbox Series X could also let developers clock their game performances up to 120 frames per second and use “Variable Rate Shading” to keep visuals and performance intact.

The next-gen system will also have backwards compatibility with “existing Xbox One games, including backward-compatible Xbox 360 and original Xbox games,” while enhancing them through a 12 teraflop GPU reportedly faster than current premium PC cards.

Additional upgrades also let the Series X “Quick resume for multiple games,” hinting at a possibility to multitask different games or jump back into them after a system nap.

Both Spencer and Xbox also confirmed the anticipated Halo: Infinite can also be upgraded from Xbox One to Series X free of charge.

Another reply also confirmed that virtually all previous Xbox 360 and Xbox One titles will be backwards compatible regardless of their previous monthly selections.

Spencer noted more details on the Series X will be revealed “towards E3” during the summer and “in the coming months.”
