Sanzaru Games is now a part of Oculus Studios in a new acquisition following previous work with VR titles Asgard’s Wrath and Marvel Powers United VR.

According to content director Mike Verdu, its development team was also the first to partner with Oculus since the Rift CV1 arrived in 2016.

Despite the merge, Verdu states Sanzaru will keep its independent brand and work as part of Facebook’s ongoing projects as well as Oculus Studios’ original content.

Sanzaru’s portfolio includes familiar console titles such as Secret Agent Clank, Sly Cooper: Thieves of Time and its remastered collection for the Playstation 3.

The team’s most recent work included Spyro 3: Reignited which updated the PlayStation classic with next-gen visuals and revamped gameplay.

Their first transition into VR started with disc-throwing sport game Ripcoil and VR Sports Challenge – both of which served as launch titles for the Oculus Rift’s Touch controller expansion later after the headset’s release.

Oculus also confirmed “a majority” of new developers will be close to their team as future experiences are in the making.

“We couldn’t be more excited to see what they build next,” Verdu wrote.

No new projects or announcements were teased for the merge and Sanzaru continues their work at studios in Canada and the U.S. backed by Facebook and Oculus Studios.
