Frictional Games have announced Amnesia: Rebirth for a fall release. While this is the third game in the Amnesia series, it won’t be a direct sequel. Rebirth will take place in the same world as The Dark Descent, but will follow Tasi Trianon as she struggles to put together the fragments of her shattered past amid the dust of the Algerian desert. All while dodging various monsters and unearthing horrifying secrets.
Rebirth is described as “a harrowing journey through desolation and despair, exploring the limits of human resilience,” so you should expect to be put through your paces as you play through it.
While Amnesia: Rebirth is a horror game, fans of the series will be pleased to know that Frictional Games is continuing their tradition of making the scariest game they can, while ensuring they don’t repeat any scares. As Frictional Games’ Creative Director Thomas Grip wrote on the PlayStation blog, “As you might expect from a Frictional game, we’re not simply going for a carnival attraction of jumpscares. Amnesia: Rebirth is an emotionally harrowing journey — something different, something less predictable. It will test you in ways you haven’t experienced before, and will make you think about the things that really scare you.”
“When Amnesia: The Dark Descent came out, we loved to hear the player feedback that said people couldn’t get through the game because they were too scared to continue. But, these days, simple horror isn’t enough. We want to take you beyond horror and out the other side — and see whether you’ll stand the weight of what we put you through.”
Amnesia: Rebirth is currently scheduled to release in Fall 2020 on PC and PlayStation 4. You can Wishlist the game on Steam now to stay updated on the game’s progress.
