Square Enix is shipping copies of Final Fantasy VII: Remake early to reach Europe and Australia on time for the April 10 release date. The move also tries to offset possible delays that might happen from COVID-19.
In a tweet, the game’s account stated the team was looking to make the dates work by shipping this week. They also stated “hard decisions” were made while its priority was making sure everyone could play it without further delays. The team added Final Fantasy VII: Remake continues to arrive on schedule for the same release date.
“We really want all of you looking forward to Final Fantasy VII Remake to play the game,” the message wrote. “If you get the game early, please think of others and don’t spoil it for them.”
While the original plot details were known since 1997, Square Enix reiterated there’s more to the remake including plot twists for fans.
Announced in 2014, the RPG remake adds changes to gameplay, including a modernized combat system and deeper team abilities Cloud shares with his friends. The dialogue and cutscenes are also built from the ground-up to included new elements in a 23-year-old classic.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is also a timed exclusive to the PlayStation 4 before reaching other systems in 2021. A demo was released early March ahead of the full release.
