Ashraf Ismail, creative director for Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla says audiences had a right to expect more from the game’s gameplay reveal from the latest Inside Xbox stream.

The game was part of a lineup showing off the first gameplay captured from Microsoft’s Xbox Series X system, but fans were disappointed to see little to no footage of Valhalla‘s action. Instead, a short trailer showed cutscenes and other visuals rendered in-game.

Ismail later tweeted that fans itching to see gameplay were “rightfully expected to see more” from the stream, adding the latest Assassin’s Creed game will show more details and raw gameplay from its marketing campaign.

“Thank you for your excitement and passion,” Ismail wrote. “It will be worth it!”

Even shortly after the game’s reveal, developers have been addressing fans on their feedback based on their experiences with Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey when it released in 2018. According to Ubisoft Middle East Communications Head Malek Teffaha, the upcoming game will be smaller in scale while its length is also shorter compared to its latest one. A deleted tweet added the change was for players who found Odyssey to be too “bloated.”

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla was announced late April with a graphic art livestream by artist BossLogic, who slowly revealed the game’s Viking setting. A trailer and more screenshots followed shortly after and promised a full-scale story filled with battles and naval exploration.
