Call of Duty Modern Warfare to Cross Over 200GB of Storage Space

Game Sacrifices Could Be Made

Call of Duty Modern Warfare to Cross Over 200GB of Storage Space 1

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players are being warned by Infinity Ward developers the next Season 4 update “is going to be large,” while the team is working to compress as much as they could to save hard drive space.

According to IW Senior Comms Manager Ashton Williams, the Season 4 update is 4GB for consoles once installed and pushes Modern Warfare past 200GB of overall storage for hard drives. Numerous complaints from PS4, Xbox One and PC have cited the “swelling” size as a problem, resulting in many other games being deleted to keep 2019’s Modern Warfare aboard. Its major Warzone update was known to deliver over 30GB of additional content over a single update in May 2020 while also serving as a standalone download.

Its “out-of-control” file size was also addressed by developers earlier in February, as Season 2 had already seen unhappy fans complaining. Infinity Ward staff apologized without making efforts to reduce the game’s overall storage size over consoles. This would also result in console owners having to pay more money to expand their hard drives if they haven’t yet.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare is shaping up to be one of the heaviest games ever made. According to Game Rant, the game has now blown past Quantum Break, which sits at a hefty 178GB and even outweighs Destiny 2 after its Shadowkeep update.

The Season 4 update is set to come in an update on June 10, 2020 at 11PM PDT and 2AM EST for PC, PS4 and Xbox One systems.
