Rocksteady Studios, the development house best known for its Batman games, is returning to the DC franchise with a new game based on the Suicide Squad. The game is already in development, with a full announcement coming in two weeks at DC FanDome.

Rocksteady teased their newest game on Twitter early this morning, which features a profile of Superman covered by the Suicide Squad crosshair logo.

The Suicide Squad game was the subject of rumors earlier this summer, so this confirmation is the culmination of a few months worth of speculation. The rumors kicked up back in June when ResetEra uncovered a few web domains registered to Warner Bros and Rocksteady, all of which reference Suicide Squad.

Eurogamer then reported that a Suicide Squad game was in the works alongside a game based on the Gotham Knights storyline. The Gotham Knights game has been teased repeatedly over the last year, and both games, according to Eurogamer’s reports, were expected to be unveiled during DC FanDome on August 22nd.

Speculation on the game has now moved to the plot, which appears to focus on the concept of the Squad going after the Justice League. Most of the speculation is based on the newly unveiled poster and one of the registered domain names, SuicideSquadKillTheJusticeLeague.com to be specific. While this would be an interesting twist, the concept of an evil Justice League has already made for two Injustice video game installments recently. Though adding the Suicide Squad is indeed novel by comparison.

Rocksteady’s last game was 2016’s Batman: Arkham VR, though their last major game effort was 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight which concluded their Batman: Arkham series which started in 2009 with Batman: Arkham Asylum. Batman: Return to Arkham was developed by Virtuos for Warner Bros. Interactive.

In further Suicide Squad news, director James Gunn is scheduled to unveil the sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad film at DC FanDome later this month.

I have #TheSuicideSquad title treatments for some of the territories we missed yesterday. Note: In India, Germany, France, & some other places the official title is in English. And, once again, I'll have lots more for you to see at #DCFanDome on 8/22! pic.twitter.com/b9IaqkNECs
