EA Play Unifies Origin Access and Access in Rebranding

EA is the latest studio to introduce a new name for their services through EA Play, which brings the existing Access and Origin Access names together for simplicity.

According to a blog post, EA stated their rebranding would be classifying its different Access subscriptions, while users won’t see any changes to their services, Starting on August 18, 2020 the new Play name would take flight and replace the old Origin Access Basic name. The Play Pro name would be set over the existing Origin Access Premier brand.

“EA Play puts you at the center of the experience,” the company wrote. “Moving all the benefits to a single brand is an important step in streamlining our services to ensure that being an EA Play member is the best way to play.”

The rebranding will also extend to any in-game rewards and services which mention EA Access. This includes subscriber-exclusive content and notifications that appear in upcoming games such as Madden NFL 21, Star Wars: Squadrons and Fifa 21. EA Play also covers its annual E3-style games showcase and numerous live events which already shared the name ahead of rebranding.

EA will be rolling out the name changes for players starting on August 18, 2020.
