Samsung recently unveiled their latest folding-friendly smartphone the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 in a press briefing and media event.
The world of technology is a fast-moving, iterative one, especially in regards to smart devices and phones. What some may still consider a gimmick, Samsung seemingly has fully embraced in what looks to be the best take on a foldable smartphone yet. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 features an impressive and large 7.6-inch QXGA+ AMOLED display, and an additional 6.2 inch Super AMOLED screen that makes up the device and contributes to its foldable nature.
Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 will feature the Snapdragon 865+ which is the cream of the crop, when it comes to Android-based processors available on the market. Coupled with a staggering 12 GBs of RAM, the Z Fold 2 will be more than capable of running anything thrown at it. A 12 megapixel ultra-wide rear-facing camera along with a comparable 10-megapixel front-facing will allow consumers to capture quality photos in style.
In terms of storage the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 will ship with a comfy 256GB onboard flash storage solution, half of that available from the original Fold device, but still more than enough for most use case scenarios.
Finally, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will feature a 4,500mAh battery which should prove enough juice to last over a day at the least when used in a real-world setting.
The screens on the device promise to deliver an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz when appropriate for things such as gaming or watching fast moving video. In terms of size, the front screen for the Fold 2 will be substantially bigger than its predecessor at 6.2inches from a relatively small 4.6inches found on the original Samsung folding device.
The sleek form factor despite its larger screen is possible to its foldable nature, making it not only an attractive-looking smart device but one that actually literally shows its practically, going from a more traditional verticle orientation to one that can be folded and held like a small pamphlet for easy access and storage.
The impressive tech found within the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 does not come cheap, with it retailing in Canada for a whopping $2,779 CAD. The Samsung Z Fold 2 will release later this month on the 18th of September. Those curious to check out the device may do so at their local Samsung Experience stores.
