Marvel's Avengers Confirms Kate Bishop as First DLC Character

Marvel’s Avengers is shaping up to be an expansive game with continual DLC support after launch, introducing a roster that blows past the original superhero team. Despite the introduction of PlayStation-exclusive character Spider-Man, Black Panther and Hawkeye, it’s Kate Bishop who will be the first DLC hero players can become in October 2020.

In a reveal trailer, Bishop was seen joining the War Table and showed off her bow-and-arrow abilities. Like Hawkeye, she has access to her own deadly arsenal of arrows and gadgets to fight AIM forces. But instead of joining Clint Barton in a mission against AIM, she’s stopping her former teacher after he was seen on their side. As confirmed by Crystal Dynamics, all DLC characters including Bishop will have their own single player story missions which expand the base game’s campaign during and after. She also connects with Tony Stark/Iron Man and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill as they investigate AIM’s hunt for a deadly piece of technology stored in an underground vault.

In the comics, Kate Bishop was introduced in 2005 as a disciple of Hawkeye. After some intense training and time with the Young Avengers, Bishop became ready to take on the Hawkeye quiver as Barton disappeared from Earth-616 for a bit following his death in Avengers #502. She also appears in the Ultimate Comics universe as a 16-year-old teenager who dates Miles Morales before it’s revealed she was a member of HYDRA (along with the rest of the Barton family).

Bishop will also be added free of charge, along with the rest of Marvel’s Avengers roster which was leaked last month. According to EuroGamer, some names on the datamined list included Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Falcon, Mar-Vell, Mockingbird, She-Hulk, Quake, War Machine, Wasp, Scarlet With and even Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier. They will also be sharing the premium treatment, which comes from a $10 battle pass which unlocks special cosmetics and other goodies via. progression.
