Ubisoft Developing Far Cry VR Game for Select Locations
Far Cry Dips Into VR As Location-Based Shooter

The Far Cry series is taking a jump into VR, as Ubisoft announced a partnership with Zero Latency to make a game for select locations around the world.
In a release, Ubisoft revealed Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity which is puts players in a free-roamable VR space armed with an assault rifle. Up to eight players are thrown back into the world of Far Cry 3, which modernized the series and cemented its first-person open world action format for years to come. Iconic villain Vaas and his legion of pirates have captured the group, until they hatch an escape plan and fight for survival across Rook Island.
The game will also run similar to Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire and Avengers Damage Control VR, which added a short narrative story with shoot-em-up mechanics. Players will also be hooked up to a VR headset and backpack for a fully-wireless 6-degrees-of-freedom experience that lets players walk around and see each other in the game world. The real VR space will also include pieces of cover and other walls that are rendered in the game as environments for Far Cry: Dive Into Insanity. Of course, going back into Far Cry 3‘s setting means players will be surrounded by tropical beaches and lush rainforest as they mow down hordes of Vaas’ pirates. They will also need to work together and concentrate their fire on tougher enemies who will be life-sized.
“Ubisoft’s entry into the multiplayer free-roaming VR space builds on the success of its experiences like Notre-Dame VR, as well as its VR escape games and rides, to offer players a new way to experience Ubisoft’s beloved worlds,” the Far Cry studio wrote, adding it will immerse viewers back into the 2012 game in a new perspective.
Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity will be landing in select Zero Latency VR venues worldwide starting in 2021.
