World of Warcraft Shadowlands Expansion Delayed

New launch time still TBA

World of Warcraft Shadowlands Expansion Delayed

Anticipated WoW add-on Shadowlands has been set back from its October 27, 2020 release date, with Blizzard looking to continue polishing the expansion before launch.

In a post, the developers cited their difficult decision in holding Shadowlands back from release with challenges of working at home. Teams are also looking to tine-tune the components with the previously inaccessible area and its elements, including the Covenants and Torghast.

“We’re at a point where the zones, the campaign, the level-up questing experience, and the story we have to tell are essentially ready to share,” Blizzard wrote, adding they still needed a little time to polish the game as they continued collecting feedback from testing Shadowlands. “Blizzard has a commitment to quality. We believe Shadowlands will be something special, and we’ve heard from many of you who feel the same. We need this extra time to ensure that Shadowlands lives up to its full potential.”

But fans will also be given something to look forward to in the form of a pre-patch on October 13, which will prep the base WoW game and other interconnected expansions for the latest DLC. This would also add in the necessary assets, including the remade progression for characters, customization and significantly different gameplay on Exile’s Reach.

Blizzard told fans to be ready to fight the reborn Scourge and protect Azeroth when the expansion eventually releases. No new launch date was announced.
