Earlier this week Sony showcased some of their upcoming PS5 game lineup during its Future of Gaming / PS5Showcase digital event. This event showcased over 20 new games that will be available for the PS5. But, with all these next-gen games fighting for your attention, it can be difficult to navigate which ones possibly deserve the hype and might be worth your time and which ones you should hold out for more information on. Let’s focus on the exclusives here and leverage what limited details we might have. Since these are the games that are supposed to get us players the most interested in clicking that pre-order button and spending over $500.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Release Date: November 12, 2020 Developer: Insomniac Games
Continuing the franchise of the unexpected hit of Marvel’s Spider-Man game for PS4, is Spider-Man: Miles Morales. I think it is safe to say that this game will feature not only a continuation of the storyline but amazing gameplay, which is exactly what we have come to expect from this series. Developer Insomniac is not messing around when it comes to this sequel it appears. The game will be allowing Miles Morales to wear the famous suit and become the hero was has been training to be. While Miles might be in similar costume, his powers are unique providing a fresh experience from the typical Spider-Man game. And by the very brief look that we got – it looks even more stunning then the first game.
Release Date: November 12, 2020 Developer: Bluepoint Games
A confirmed remake of the PS3 exclusive Demon’s Souls, which is the starting point of the Dark Souls franchise and released 11 years ago. Demon’s Souls is worthy of a technical and visual upgrade for both fans and new players. Bluepoint Games has a big task at end with this remark, needing to retain all the difficulty of the original but vastly improving the performance and visuals by leveraging this new hardware. And it appears that Bluepoint is doing just that, the new trailer shows off a lot of things including a boss fight.
God of War 2: Ragnarok
Release Date: TBD Developer: Sony
Do I really need to say anything else? God of War 2 is finally happening. In the VERY short trailer with simple text and an image, the announcement took place during Sony’s recent showcase. It also featured Kratos’ saying that “the time draws near” and that’s it! Set for release in the new year, we can bet that this game will be impressive.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Release Date: TBD Developer: Insomniac Games
One of PlayStation’s most iconic duo of a robot and lombax are back for another action platformer adventure. Finally receiving a proper sequel to the original game (that was also remastered for the PS4), this series is worthy of mention. The Ratchet & Clank series is one of those games that are needed in your library. Tons of fun to play, challenging, memorable and light-hearted. And there is a ton of footage released for this game currently, including seven minutes that was shared at Gamescon 2020. And it appears that Insomniac Games is taking full advantage of the PS5 impressive capabilities by showcasing Ratchet’s new ability to jump between worlds instantly without load times/ This game is sure to be filled with vast worlds to explore with the characters that we know and love.
Horizon Forbidden West
Release Date: TBD Developer: Guerrilla Games
And finally, an open world action RPG to close off this list and it’s a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn. Horizon Forbidden West will take place in the same post-apocalyptic world, however while Zero Dawn was in the West, this sequel will be head in the Pacific coast. Which features some stunning visuals including the ability to swim around. Thankfully, you will be taking the role of Aloy again as she saves Earth and embark on a set of travels. Huge praise towards the team by having the game center around an extremely engaging and relatable female lead while in this beautiful looking game.
Forbidden West will also feature new machines, creatures and even rogue tribes who have discovered how to manipulate and override the machines.
Overall, the exclusives lineup for the PlayStation 5 is stacked with a range of titles from franchises that the fans are waiting for, some sequels and even a remake. Even including various types of games from platformers, RPGs and shooting games. These are just SOME of the PS5 exclusive games that will most likely be at the top of yours and my pre-order list. While some of these titles are launch titles, a few of these you will just have to wait for an announcement which will give you some time to Platinum those launch titles until then. My question to you is – will you be pre-ordering?
