Doom Eternal is back with the first part of a single-player driven DLC set after the events of the campaign.
Its launch gives players a new set of levels and challenging enemies to fight as they embark on a bloody rampage against evil. The DLC also adds aquatic set pieces, taking players underwater into new UAC bases riddled with demons. The Ancient Gods expands on the medieval-driven lore which rebooted the series in 2016, putting the god-like Khan Maykrs and hellpriests back into Doom Slayer’s sights.
After a dip into the cold depths of an ocean, the Doom Slayer’s latest journey will be mainly set aboard the UAC tanker base where he fights increasingly tough hordes of Imps, Mancubus, Hell Knights, Doom Hunters and Soldiers. Its trailer showed off the notoriously hard-to-kill Marauders from Doom Eternal‘s main campaign after they were introduced as a boss and later common enemy in the game. The Ancient Gods Part One doesn’t just contain one setting as players are whisked away to a Hellscape with larger enemy types. Players here will take on Barons and other mystical bosses which can dodge the Slayer’s weapons.
The Ancient Gods Part One continues the Slayer’s quest to destroy the Khan Maykrs responsible for invading Earth in their penance. For extra help, the Slayer travels to enemy territory in order to revive a large mystical being. This is also the first half of a new storyline which is made available today as DLC for Doom Eternal on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Stadia. The anticipated port for Nintendo Switch is still in development and it’s unclear if the DLC will be included at launch.
