Vince Vaughn Confirms Wedding Crashers Sequel

Vince Vaughn confirms Wedding Crashers sequel is in talks. Vaughn must’ve been aware that a sequel was in high demand from fans, but that could be said about nearly all his movies; however, Wedding Crashers 2 is officially a work in progress.

In an interview with Cinemablend, Vaughn explains, “I never went and made a sequel to a lot of these films at the time because it felt like we were just chasing a success. But what I like about where Crashers could potentially be at is [that] there’s something that is of this moment that feels really good… a lot of these comedies, even something like Wedding Crashers, you’re sort of investigating things that I think are real in our lives, but the comedy is an overcommitment to the absurd.”

Thinking about the success of previous movies Vaughn either produced, wrote, acted, etc., chasing that success is always risky; any film, sequel or not, is risky business. Studios will often chase the success of high grossing films by greenlighting a sequel; however, history shows that sequels or remakes often don’t live up to par.

Vaughn tends to use original, fresh creative thought for his films and doesn’t want the negative connotation studios have been known for as they chase dollar signs. He said as of this moment, things feel good about creating a sequel for Wedding Crashers, which means that he is breaking the cycle because he feels comfortable doing so at this time and he wouldn’t if he didn’t truly believe it would be successful in the creative sense.

Vaughn has chose to re-examine Wedding Crashers, and fans of the original film are hyped.
