Dead by Daylight Reveals Resident Evil Chapter Details

During Dead by Daylight’s fifth anniversary Livestream, the studio revealed details on the game’s upcoming Resident Evil chapter and it would be releasing on June 15th.

The chapter will introduce two new survivors: Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine. Both of them will have three unique perks—one of Leon’s Perks is the Flashbang which allows players to stun the Killer similar to how firecrackers work. Jill, on the other hand, can place a mine on one of the generators, exploding and stunning the Killer if they attempt to sabotage it.

“We could not have dreamed of a better way to celebrate our fifth anniversary than by welcoming the legendary characters from Resident Evil into our universe. They are at the root of all horror in video games and we are humbled to be able to honour that legacy with a new chapter, thus cementing our own position as the Hall of Fame of Horror”, Dead by Daylight Game Director, Mathieu Côté, explains. “We are so very grateful to Capcom for everything they’ve done in the last 25 years to bring us immersive, terrifying games. It is an incredibly proud moment for us.”

If you’re the type of player who would rather play as the killer, then you can play as as the Nemesis, know as, “The Tyrant” in the Resident Evil-themed chapter. Nemesis comes with a slew of abilities, namely being able to infect survivors with the T-Virus, causing them to cough and become easier to spot. Furthermore, Nemesis strength and range increases with every infected Survivor. Survivors looking to relieve the infection by using a vaccine item to counter the attack. The item can be acquired in limited varieties across the map,

The new chapter which was announced in the latest Resident Evil Showcase will introduce AI-assisted killers, as Nemesis can spawn zombies which can also attack and infect the Survivors. The new aspect of the game will allow survivors to adapt as they think of new strategies. Survivors will also be able to try out a new map all too familiar to Resident Evil fans, the Raccoon City Police Station.

Dead by Daylight‘s Resident Evil Chapter is set to launch on June 15, 2021, for $11.99 USD. The game is currently available on PC (via Steam and the Microsoft Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Stadia. Those who purchase the Resident Evil Chapter will get an exclusive free charm, the Umbrella Corporation.
