Pokémon Go Adds Sylveon To Eeveelution Possibilities 2

Pokémon Go continues to add new Pokémon to the game, with Sylveon being the newest addition to the game as part of the Luminous Legend Y event taking place right now.

Pokémon Go offers players the opportunity to search the real world for Pokémon through its AR tech. With a large selection of Pokémon and the ability to once again attempt to “catch ’em all,” it can sometimes get tricky to try to get certain creatures depending on the process of evolution necessary.

One such example is how Eevee’s evolutionary tree works, with eight possible transformations, each completed randomly through spent Candy in the game. Now that Sylveon has been added via the Luminous Legends Y event, players will need to take the time to evolve Eevees to try to attain the newest Eeveelution.

Normally, this evolution would be done completely randomly, where you could end up with any of the eight possibilities, but Pokémon Go has a cheat code of sorts that allows you to select which evolution to end up with by simply changing the name of the Eevee prior to spending your Candy of the evolution.

Each is a reference to a trainer from the anime or from one of the games where someone had one of the eight evolutions. For example, in order to get Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon, you’d need to use one of the names of the Eevee Brothers from the first season of the anime.

For Sylveon, this is no different, with the nickname Kira resulting in a guaranteed Sylveon evolution. Additionally, you’ll need to gain 70 Buddy Hearts with the Eevee you intend to evolve to complete the process. The Kira nickname is a reference to the Eevium Z trainers from Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Remember, the Eevee name trick can only be used once, after that it’s mostly random—with the exception for Eevvelutions that are a result of Lure Modules. Here is the full list of Eeveelutions and the nickname needed to make the evolution happen:

  • Rename Eevee as Kira to evolve into fairy-type Sylveon
  • Rename Eevee as Linnea to evolve into leaf-type Leafeon
  • Rename Eevee as Rea to evolve into ice-type Glaceon
  • Rename Eevee as Sakura to evolve into psychic-type Espeon
  • Rename Eevee as Tamao to evolve into dark-type Umbreon
  • Rename Eevee as Rainer to evolve into water-type Vaporeon
  • Rename Eevee as Sparky to evolve into lightning-type Jolteon
  • Rename Eevee as Pyro to evolve into fire-type Flareon

Normally a difficult process to take the randomised approach, it’s great to see Niantic add ways to make things easier, while also referencing classic happenings from the frachise.
