First Trailer for Tick, Tick…Boom! Teases Another Hit for Lin-Manuel Miranda 5

In The Heights comes the first trailer for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s film directorial debut, Tick, Tick…Boom!

An adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s musical of the same name, the film stars Andrew Garfield, with a supporting cast comprised of Vanessa Hudgens, Alexandra Shipp, In the Heights star Robin de Jesús, Joshua Henry, Judith Light, and Bradley Whitford as Stephen Sondheim.

For those wondering, the theatre is not new to Garfield who is likely best known as Spider-Man. Back in 2021, Garfield made his Broadway debut as Biff Loman in Death of a Salesman. He had stellar reviews, which should make his transition to this musical adaption a breeze. He was nominated for a Tony for his perfomance.

Here’s the official plot synopsis from Netflix:

“The film follows Jon, a young theater composer who’s waiting tables at a New York City diner in 1990 while writing what he hopes will be the next great American musical. With the clock ticking, Jon is at a crossroads and faces the question everyone must reckon with: What are we meant to do with the time we have?”

No further details have been given for the plot, but the film is set to hit theatres and on Netflix sometime during the fall, without a precise release date being given. If you’ve enjoyed Hamilton or In The Heights, and would like to see yet another musical crafted by a genius in the field, then look no further.

Miranda’s grandiose style is highly apparent during the trailer showcasing its musical numbers, with Andrew Garfield already having one hell of a year with Gia Coppola’s Mainstream and will appear in The Eyes of Tammy Faye and (potentially) in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
