NACON and The University Network want students to game and get back to school in a humongous way.
NACON and The University Network have come together and announced today, the RIG Future Academy Scholarship. The scholarship offers the opportunity for four lucky students (attending school in the United States) to receive $5,000 each, and another five students who will get a “Gear Up college pack”. Sounds like a great way to chip away at the impending future student loans.
The application process is even quite simple. Students can submit their application through an essay or video, which will answer the question: “How has gaming helped you in academics?”
As someone who competed in post-secondary e-sports tournaments, I would’ve applied for this scholarship in a heartbeat. It’s tough to balance academics and gaming, but the RIG Future Academy Scholarship is a great opportunity to handle some of the finances for both endeavours.
The RIG Future Academy Scholarship is backed by two organizations with great specialties to help students navigate their post-secondary education ventures, financially and competitively.
NACON and The University Network seem to be very excited to offer this aid to the students. “We help students find the scholarships that are right for them – which is why we’re thrilled to be teaming up with NACON to offer the RIG Future Academy Scholarship,” said CEO of The University Network, Peter Corrigan.
President of NACON Gaming Inc., Jack Reynolds offered his insight to the collaboration, “RIG empowers players to improve gaming performance and now supports their academic advancements as well. Gaming is sport and to win, you have to play, practice, and study hard.”
NACON is best known for creating the video games such as Vampire: The Masquerade — Swansong and Warhammer: Chaosbane. Additionally, NACON Gaming’s RIG headset peripherals have been a solid standout for them, and they want students to have the best gaming experience they can.
The University Network is a great resource to help students navigate the spirals and mazes of post-secondary life. They help young scholars by providing them the latest news of what universities are up to around the world, they help find scholarships, they help search for places that offer student discounts, and they help look for internship and job opportunities.
The deadline to apply is November 30, 2021, so if you’re thinking about sending in a submission, you better get it done sooner than later.
