JBL, in collaboration with the 1,000 Dreams Fund, has announced an event called Changemakers, described as a “candid conversation” about the experiences of women in gaming and streaming.
Changemakers will feature three prominent content creators as panellists, with WNBA star Candace Parker also joining the conversation. The panellists can all be seen below.
- Brooke “BrookeAB” Bond – one of the fastest-growing streamers and member of premiere lifestyle brand and gaming organization 100 Thieves
- Jayla “Ninjayla” Thornton – Apex Legends streamer and content creator for Complexity
- Ava “Ava.GG” Myddleton – variety streamer specializing in multiplayer shooter games and member of Queens Gaming Collective
- Candace Parker – one of the most decorated basketball players, recognized sports broadcasters and the first WNBA cover star of NBA 2K franchise
The event will air on Twitch’s main page and JBL’s YouTube channel on September 15th at 8pm ET. Here’s a description via a press release, “The virtual mentorship session will give these women the unique opportunity to engage with high-profile women in the industry and offer the space to have conversations on shared experiences in gaming.”
The Changemakers event will culminate with the announcement of the 30 recipients of the JBL Quantum Grant, and said recipients will have the chance to talk with the panellists via a virtual mentorship during a special stream of Fall Guys. Each recipient will receive a $1500 micro-grant to support their career aspirations, as well as a JBL One gaming headset. Christie Garton, founder of the 1,000 Dreams Fund, commented on the announcement, saying
“We are looking forward to providing resources and hands-on mentorship experiences to the JBL Quantum Grant with 1,000 Dreams Fund recipients. The virtual mentorship session will give these women the unique opportunity to engage with high-profile women in the industry and offer the space to have conversations on shared experiences in gaming.”
