PSA: Rockstar Advises Against Installing Game Data On The 360

Straight from the horse’s mouth, said horse being Rockstar, games, creator of Grand Theft Auto, their helpful support department has a warning for all upcoming owners of Grand Theft Auto V on the Xbox 360; don’t install the second disc of game data onto your hard drive.

The warning comes via the Rockstar Support twitter account, and reads, in full:

For optimal performance, we recommend not installing that disc. We will have more info on our Support Site at launch.

There’s no other explanation given so far, but given the current industry behavior of pushing games out the door to meet a sales date regardless of bugs (I’m looking at you, Skyrim…), it’s likely that Rockstar already has a patch in the works that they’ll put out very soon. That’s a far more cost effective alternative to delaying the release of the game after all the marketing and distribution deals have been finalized.

In the meantime, all you Xbox 360 GTA fans had probably better just follow the advice and play from the disc until further notice.
