Guerilla Games Working On New IP 1

During the Gamescom event in Europe, Amsterdam based studio Guerilla Games, most recognized for their Killzone franchise, revealed in an interview with Eurogamer that they are working on something new.

Said Eric Boltjes, lead designer on the upcoming Killzone: Shadowfall for the PS4, “I can be true about it, yes. That’s definitely what’s happening right now. I can’t tell you what we’re thinking of but yes.”

The big question for most gamers will be, “Well, just HOW new a project is this?” Insomniac, for example, went from cute 3

person platform games to a gritty, alternate history first person shooter with the Resistance series. Naughty Dog, did something similar, moving away from the cartoony Jak & Daxter series to the more grounded, Indiana Jones-esque adventures of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series, then took a turn for the bleak with this year’s amazing The Last of Us.

Guerilla Games has already bucked that trend, by being at the head of Sony’s “dark n’ gritty FPS” wave with Killzone as it is. Does this mean their next franchise will be an even darkier, grittier, FPS? Or will they actually move out of the genre, and leave their potty mouthed soldiers behind for something different? 3
