Koei Tecmo Blames Employee for PR Misstep

Koei Tecmo Blames Employee for PR Misstep - 2015-12-01 12:26:52

Following some harsh backlash, Koei Tecmo has released a statement to separate themselves from a comment regarding the localization of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3.

“The comments made by an employee regarding Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 on the official Dead or Alive Facebook page only reflect that individual’s opinion and not the opinion or business strategy of Koei Tecmo Games” says the company in an official statement on Twitter. “Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 remains in development and is still planned for release in Japan and Asia only.”

Over the past week, the company was under scrutiny after a member of their PR team went rogue and essentially blamed feminism and Gamer Gate for the title not hitting western shores. It’s news that shouldn’t really be news considering the series has dropped in popularity since its first title, but a little bit of controversy is never a bad marketing strategy.
