New Live Action Death Note Movie Announced In Japan 1

Warner Bros. Japan has announced a third installment in their line of Death Note live action movies.

Announced via the WB’s Japanese website, the film, titled: Death Note: Light up the NEW World. The new movie is set to release in Japan on October 29 with no current plans to bring the film to the west.

Set 10 years after the events of the last two films, Light up the NEW World will pit two new charismatic forces who’ve inherited the ideologies of Light and L against each other as they search for the six new Death Notes that have fallen to Earth. The world is constantly under the threat of a global cyber-terrorism group and Japan has set up an investigative task force for future Death Note related incidents.

The three main characters are L’s successor, Ryuzaki (Sousuke Ikematsu), investigator Tsukuru Mishima (Masahiro Higashide) and Kira revering cyber-terrorist Yugi Shion (Masaki Suda).

New Live Action Death Note Movie Announced In JapanThe screenplay is written by Katsunari Mano, famous for his work on the crime drama Aibou, and will be directed by Shinsuke Sato, director of the GANTZ and Library Wars series of live action films.
