Driveclub VR Coming Exclusively to PS VR in 2016 1

Driveclub VR will be a PlayStation VR launch window title; Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced.

Sony’s Nico Orru confirmed this through a post on the PlayStation Blog, where it was revealed that the VR-compatible version of Evolution’s racing game would be coming exclusively to PlayStation VR in 2016.

Orru laid out the features and modes, both new and old, that will be available on Driveclub VR, including the following:

“• Game modes: Online virtual reality multiplayer race modes and an action-packed single player career are joined by drifting and time trial challenges.

• Tracks: New and classic Driveclub tracks are brought to life through the power of PlayStation VR, including five all-new Urban locations.

• A closer look: More than 80 cars are recreated with immaculate detail for players to explore up close with Inspection Mode.

• Cruise control: A little time to kick back, open the throttle or just coast and explore any track, in any country at your leisure in Cruise Mode.

• Virtual passenger: An immersive thrill ride through exciting replays of hot laps as players watch themselves handle their greatest challenges from a unique viewpoint in Passenger Mode.”

While Driveclub VR has no definitive release date outside of the 2016 window, it won’t be too long after the PlayStation VR launch on October 13th, which was announced at Sony’s E3 press conference back in June.

The PlayStation VR will cost $399 when it launches later this year, and will see over 50 games available on the platform before the end of 2016.

The original Driveclub launched on PlayStation 4 in 2014 after a year-long delay out of the system’s launch window. After an expansion and a year of technical problems, Driveclub’s developer Evolution Studios was shut down by Sony this March and the majority of its staff picked up by Codemasters.
