Nvidia Unveils Back to School Savings with New Deals Aimed at Students

Nvidia announces Max-Q technology, promising game-ready laptops with a sleek and small form factor.

Recently at the Taipei Computex event, Nvidia has announced their plans to manufacture special Max-Q GTX 1080 chipsets that are capable of delivering high-fidelity gaming while cutting the power consumption in half, resulting in sleek and thin gaming-ready laptops.

The new chipset is already set to ship with big name manufacturers such as the upcoming Asus Zephyrus laptop. Nvidia has promised that this new Max-Q architecture will allow gaming laptops equipped with GTX 1080s that are as small as 18mm, this thin form factor is achieved through maximising thermal and acoustic design efficiencies wherever possible.

The term, Max-Q comes from aerospace engineering and refers to the maximum dynamic pressure that can be exerted on a vehicle during flight.  The design philosophy behind the Max-Q architecture set out to target the moment of peak efficiency, by doing, Nvidia managed to circumvent the need of bulky chassis and larger cooling solutions. Max-Q equipped machines promise to deliver up to 70% faster than other laptops of the same form factor.
