The Razer Blade and Razer Phone have been gaining a lot of attention in recent years, and with that in mind, why not merge the two concepts with Project Linda.
At CES 2018 Razer unleashes their newest concept idea Project Linda, merging key ideas from the Blade series of laptops, with their new and highly sought after Razer Phone. The new concept hopes to bring the best of both worlds to the road warrior who loves the best and newest in tech.
Project Linda, while not an official product yet, combines the screen, keyboard, and form factor of the blade, while having the core of the ultraportable laptop be powered by your Razer Phone. The Mobile device sitting at the centre of Project Linda is no slouch, offering users the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835 and 8 GB of RAM to ensure the full experience is smooth and fluid. Acting as a touch screen and second display, the 5.7-inch screen expands what users can do with a laptop well beyond the conventional way to users interact with computers.
“Android power users and laptop enthusiasts share a need for performance in a mobile form factor, which we provide with our award-winning Razer Phone and Razer laptops,” says Razer co-founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan. “Project Linda combines the best of both worlds, bringing a larger screen and physical keyboard to the Android environment, enhancing the experience for gaming and productivity.”
The laptop doc will give users a blade style form factor, offering a 15 mm thick body built out of CNC aluminium and weighing under 3 lbs. The 13.3-inch Quad HD touchscreen display can allow the Android platform to scale into a true laptop style experience. Not stopping there, Razer have put a 53.6 Wh internal battery that can rapidly charge the docked phone up to three times while away from a charger. The internal 200GB of extra storage allowing for backup along with access to important files. Project Linda will also expand the IO of the Razer Phone, giving it access to a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a USB-A port, a USB-C charging port, 720P webcam, and a del-array microphone making Project Linda ideal for people looking to expand their phones abilities on the go.
The laptop dock is not a new concept to the tech industry. Motorola did it with the Atrix back in 2011, but with the power at the core of the phone not being fully there, and the full experience feeling tacked on, it did not turn as many heads as was hoped. Razer, with Project Linda are building on much more powerful APU’s, along with years of engineering with the Blade line of laptops, so they have all the makings of an exciting product.
