Codemasters, the developer of racing titles Grid, DiRT and F1 2015, has posted their first profit in five years.
The company had been struggling with the transition to the latest generation of consoles but continued to stick to their pedigree and produce racing games. Dirt Rally, their most recently released game, debuted at No.2 on the charts and was only a handful of units behind Quantum Break.
“It’s a very positive time for the company,” said CEO Frank Seigner.”Dirt Rally has done very well. F1 2015 was successful, we did two-and-a-half times the number of units we did the year before. Our morale is up because when you do good games and they’re successful, your employees are happy. And, by the way, so are your shareholders.”
Codemasters predicts that they will continue to be successful in the coming year and will achieve “double digit” growth. With the recent acquisition of MotorStorm developer, Evolution Studios, Codemasters has enough studios to add a new game franchise under their belt.
