Earlier today, Apple hosted their annual September Keynote event, covering brand new features for the Apple iPhone and Watch. There were a lot of strong reveals, including an official announcement from Nintendo for Super Mario Run on iOS by Shigeru Miyamoto himself. Here’s a quick wrap-up of information you might’ve missed during the Apple Keynote stream:
Apple Watch is getting a brand new generation. The Apple Watch Series 2 features a water-resistant shell, built-in GPS support, a 50% faster S2 dual-core processor and a display at 1000 nits. According to Apple, the Series 2 screen is the brightest they’ve ever created: Perfect for using your Apple Watch in the sunlight. Series 2 pre-orders start on September 9th at the not-so-modest price of $369. For $269, the upcoming launch also features the original design with the S2 processor added in, too, under the Series 1 brand.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are coming out, and they look sick. The new models feature the A10 Fusion chip: A 64-bit, four core processor for enhanced performance. The iPhone 7 also touts the longest battery life ever in iPhone history, with at least two hours extra than the iPhone 6s. Additional features include a water- and dust-resistant case, a more responsive home button, an advanced camera with optical image stabilization and an enhanced retina display. Oh, and if you’re willing to shell out for the iPhone 7 Plus, you can get dual speakers and a telephoto lens, which will support an upcoming depth of field portrait mode. Storage space has also been doubled, with a starting size of 32 GBs. The iPhone 7 starts at $649, with the iPhone 7 Plus at $769. Pre-orders start September 9th, with phones shipping September 16th.
The iPhone is ditching analog earbuds, to some extent. Apple introduced AirPods, wireless earbuds with a five hour battery life. Powered by the Apple W1 chip, the AirPods come with several nifty features, including: Accessing Siri with a double tap, charging AirPods in a portable case, and using detection hardware to turn off music when the AirPods are not in use. AirPods start at $159 and launch late October, if you want to experience them for yourself.
