Razer is known throughout the gaming world for their variety of gaming peripherals and hardware components. From the Razer Ripsaw to the Razer Edge, the company is practically a household name in gaming tech. But today, Razer is introducing an upgrade to their DeathAdder gaming mouse: the brand new Razer DeathAdder Elite is available for pre-order.
According to a press release from Razer, the mouse features the Razer 5G Optical Sensor, which “tracks up to 16,000 dots per inch (DPI) at 450 inches per second (IPS).” The release also notes that the DeathAdder Elite has “the highest measured resolutiona ccuracy (RA) ever recorded in a gaming mouse at 99.4 percent.” All things considered, that’s quite a bit of power behind the mouse. There’s also a variety of other features, including Razer Mechanical Mouse Switches, enhanced durability and a superior scroll wheel.
Alongside the DeathAdder Elite, the Razer Gigantus mouse mat is on its way. According to Razer, the mat “features an ultra-large surface area, an optimized gaming surface and enhanced thickness.” The mouse mat’s goal? Razer hopes to “provide tournament grade gear for professional eSports athletes and other competitive players.” The mat was designed with feedback from Team Razer, too, so Razer is definitely serious about making sure the product works well in an eSports environment.
It’s safe to say that Razer sees eSports as the next big gaming hardware market, and the company is interested in expanding their offerings to enter that field. With eSports on the rise, that’s not quite a bad idea. Breaking into the market now means a continued hold down the road.
The cost for both Razer peripherals aren’t that bad, either. The DeathAdder Elite runs $69.99 USD, whereas the Gigantus mouse mat is priced at $29.99. While the Gigantus mouse mat is available now, the DeathAdder Elite is currently available for pre-orders, with a prospective October launch. Expect more eSports gear from Razer down the road, hopefully with some more input from Team Razer along the way.
