Verizon Drops Huawei Sales After Possible Government Intervention

Verizon has recently become the latest US carrier to drop sales for Chinese manufacturer. After AT&T, Verizon’s decision is assumed to also have strong ties with political pressure.

According to Bloomberg Technology “The government’s renewed concern about Chinese spying is creating a potential roadblock in the race between Verizon and AT&T to offer 5G, the next generation of super-fast mobile service.” leading some to believe that many more Chinese companies will no longer be sold in the USA.

Trump’s 5G plan is currently being implemented in a few US cities, but plans to nationalize it has brought more cautious consideration to the U.S security; Bloomberg Technology states: “U.S. security agencies and some lawmakers fear that 5G phones made by companies that may have close ties to the Chinese government could pose a security risk.”

Huawei is one of the many smartphone companies to largely invest in 5G technology. However, with failed US release plans for its latest phone, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, the company may fail to spread its newest technology as widely as it once hoped to.
