Dead Rising 4 Offers to Sell True Ending in DLC 1

The rotting decrepit corpse that is Dead Rising 4 has shambled to full release, and the reception has been mixed. I know one guy who really didn’t like it. If you’ve already played through the game and found the ending to be a little abrupt, there’s a very good reason for that. It seems that the game left a very big part of its ending behind, but don’t worry; it’s for sale.

Overtime mode has been a staple in the Dead Rising franchise since it’s inception. What first seemed like an additional mode was soon discovered to be the true ending of the game. Dead Rising 4 continues this tradition, but you’ll have to purchase that mode separately as part of the “Frank Rising” DLC.

The DLC is describes as thus:

Dead Rising 4: Frank Rising: In this DLC, Frank West is freshly infected and needs to find a cure before he becomes a zombie and is lost forever. While searching for a cure, Frank discovers that everything is not the same as it was; zombies are getting smarter, people cannot be trusted and paramilitary forces are plotting to wipe out Willamette. Frank has a limited time before he reverts to the full zombie state and the city is wiped out. Frank will have to get to the truth first… or die trying.”

In an age where fans are becoming more engaged in the process than they have ever been previously, one can only hope that such an obvious cash grab attempt will furnish something more than the standard overtime mode, and, hopefully, a statement from the developers as to why they shipped an unfinished product. I sincerely hope that Frank Rising will be worth the extra monetary investment and wait on what has already been a long, schizophrenic development cycle, but I have some real doubts about it.
