Today Warner Bros. Games and NetEase Inc. revealed new pre-registration rewards for the MMO Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, coming in 2022.
To celebrate the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, players can also pre-register to receive an exclusive in-game card pack featuring Beasts from the film once the game is released. In Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, players will learn spells and charms that can be cast in duels and battles with monsters.
Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is inspired by the infant Manticores introduced in the movie, and the in-game Baby Manticore Summon Card is much stronger when the two are grouped together. According to the developers, witches and wizards who encounter a Baby Manticore may find themselves overwhelmed by an entire aggressive swarm. The Niffler, a magical beast with fluffy fur, helps witches and wizards restore their magic points by seeking out treasure in the game with its long snout.
Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is set to launch globally later this year for iOS and Android. It will be the latest title under Portkey Games, the label that’s dedicated to creating mobile and videogame experiences that are inspired by the Wizarding World that places players at the centre of their own adventure. Some other features include collecting over 80 Spell Cards and exploring Hogwarts with your broom. Players can also duel against each other in 1v1 and 2v2 duels. Players are encouraged to build their deck and bring companions along before stepping into the Duelling Club.
As for the film, The Secrets Of Dumbledore received mixed to average reviews according to Metacritic scoring a 47 on the site. CNN and the Los Angeles Times both gave it negative reviews, with CNN specifically saying they wished the film was adapted into a TV series instead of a movie. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore which was released on April 15, is the sequel to 2016’s Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. The strategy game is free to play on mobile and PC and Mac, but it has no set release date as of the time of writing.
