Assassin's Creed Mirage Brings The Story of Baghdad To Life

Ubisoft has teamed up with several new partners, such as the Institut du Monde Arabe, The David Collection, and the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design to bring the history of Baghdad to life in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

With the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage coming on October 12th, 2023, Ubisoft has revealed its partnership with several prestigious museums and institutions in order to bring a touch of realism to the story and history of Baghdad. The “History of Baghdad” offers players an interactive way to learn about the vibrant culture of the area through images selected from the collections of The David Collection, the Institut du monde Arabe, The Khalili Collections, and the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design.

Some incredibly fascinating pieces from each of these institutions are featured in this portion of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, with items like the ivory-carved Casket with gilt-bronze fittings from The David Collection in Copenhagen, the Blown Glass Jar with Trailed Zigzag Decoration from the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design in Honolulu, which is in the center of the Doris Duke Foundation grounds, and the Planispheric Astrolabe from The Khalili Collections which features 28,000 pieces of Islamic art.

Assassin’s Creed always strives to be a gateway for players to discover more about the fascinating historical setting and eras it explores,” says Thierry Noël, Head of Ubisoft’s Humanities & Inspiration Department. “With information curated by experts, “History of Baghdad” offers a research-based perspective over 9th century Baghdad and the Abbasid Empire, tackling pre-conceptions and clichés often associated with them. Our collaboration with esteemed partners and experts to bring this feature to life in Assassin’s Creed Mirage further highlights the commitment to authenticity and accuracy that is a hallmark of the series.”

Development on Assassin’s Creed Mirage is headed up by Ubisoft Bordeaux, which worked on Wrath of the Druids, the first DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, while also helping on titles like Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Rainbow Six Extraction. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is being touted as a “special tribute” to the first Assassin’s Creed as players journey to Golden Age Baghdad. Coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Amazon Luna, and PC, Assassin’s Creed Mirage looks to stay true to its source material ahead of launch.
