Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live revealed some major insight to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, CoD:MW3, with the opening for the first mission gameplay.

For all the Call of Duty fans out there, it is here. Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live showed off Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with a first look at the opening cinematic and the start of the first mission. The developers also mentioned prior to the gameplay trailer that this new game will feature 16 revitalized multiplayer maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009) on release.

The opening gameplay showed off a team of soldiers infiltrating an island prison base via a submarine. The player seemed to be in control of a member of the Alpha Team, as they kept in contact with another team (Bravo Team). The mission kicked off with lots of gunfire and repelling, very classic features with the storytelling of the recent Call of Duty games. It showed some of the new guns that will be featured in the game. The gameplay reveal trailer ended on breaching a door that explodes and cuts to the title poster.

Modern Warfare 3 was said to be a direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2 as “Captain Price and Task Force 141 face off against the ultimate threat. The ultranationalist war criminal Vladimir Makarov is extending his grasp across the world causing Task Force 141 to fight like never before.” Zombies will be back but in a new open-world way! Players can team up in open-world maps to survive hordes of zombies.

While not too much was shown of the multiplayer aspects, players could try it out in about in just over a month’s time. The game will be out on October 25 but will have early access on October 6. Be sure to check out more on the interview with developers David Swenson and Shelby Carleton.
