The Plucky Squire
If you have any friends or family who grew up gaming in the late 80s and early 90s, or have any younger ones who might like to experience those classic games in a fresh, modern setting then they’re sure to enjoy The Plucky Squire. Following a little writer/adventurer named Jot players will traverse a magical world literally inside a book, until an evil wizard tries to steal the plot and Jot must venture outside the book into the room around it. CGM’s Zubi Khan said, “If there is one word I can use to describe The Plucky Squire, it would be charming.”

Black Myth: Wukong
Now for the hardcore gamer in your life, you’re going to want to get them Black Myth: Wukong. Based on the legend of the Monkey King Son Wukong, this game is an action-packed and intense Soulslike that isn’t as punishing as something like Dark Souls or Elden Ring, but is still as demanding. CGM’s Zubi Khan said, “Black Myth: Wukong’s ebb and flow of dodging, chaining together combos, staggering enemies, and perfectly timing your transformation-based moves all cumulate in one of the best playing action games of the year.”

When I reviewed Super Mario Party Jamboree I said, “Super Mario Party Jamboree feels like the penultimate version of ‘best of both worlds.’ It feels bigger, more exciting and more thought out while still maintaining a lot of the charm and functionality of its predecessor. Young gamers will love its boardgame style and unique gameplay elements, while older gamers will love the return to form of Nintendo 64 Mario Party games.
