At Samsung Unpacked, the company announced the latest of several of its popular devices, and I had the chance to get my hands on them at a recent showcase in Toronto. They have introduced two new phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, and three watches, including the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and an updated version of the Samsung Watch Ultra. There were numerous significant upgrades that we’re very excited to share with you.
First in the line of phones is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which has gotten bigger where needed and smaller where it counts. The Z Fold 7 is 8% wider, giving you more of that bar phone feel and making it feel more familiar in your hands when typed in folded mode. This increase in size also applies when unfolded, giving you an 8” display with a 2184×1986 pixel resolution.

Where the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 got smaller, it got impressively smaller. The Z Fold 7 is the slimmest foldable yet in Samsung’s line, measuring 8.9mm (25% thinner) when folded and an astounding 4.2mm (26% thinner) when folded. It has also dropped in weight from 239g for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 to 216g for the Z Fold 7.
These numbers represent the most significant drop-off in weight and thickness between any two generations of the Z Fold. Having held it in my hands, it is remarkably thin and light, and feels fantastic in the hand. As I felt when I reviewed the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, having a phone that is so light makes you not want to bulk it up with a big case. Samsung’s line of cases are themselves very thin and light, going only on the back of the phone with a provided screen protector to protect the front screen.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has upgraded its cameras to a flagship level with a 200MP f/1.7 main camera and a 44% larger sensor than the previous model. The selfie camera is 10MP with an improved field of vision up to 100 degrees (up from 80). The cameras utilize a next-gen Provisual Engine for optimal image processing, and the front cameras feature a dedicated macro mode for stunning close-up photography.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, a chipset designed specifically for Samsung, optimized for peak efficiency. The Z Fold 7 features a 4400mAh battery, and the phone boasts an advanced vapour chamber for cooling, enhancing the efficiency of both the processor and battery, thereby extending the device’s lifespan slightly more than it would otherwise. The Z Fold 7 comes in Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet Black and Mint (a Samsung Store exclusive).
The other phone showcased at this event was the next in the Flip series, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, which also has some amazing upgrades worth your attention. It’s the slimmest and thinnest in the series, measuring 13.7mm folded (down from 14.9mm on the Z Flip 6) and 6.5mm when opened. The phone is built on an armour aluminum frame (the same as on the Galaxy S25 and S25+). The phone comes in Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red, and the web-exclusive Mint.
The phone is 4.1mm wider than the original, providing a 6.9” FHD+ display with a 2520×1080 resolution when flipped. What’s more notable is the nearly bezel-less Flex screen when folded, which features a 4.1” 948×1048 pixel resolution with a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 display. The front display also does more than ever, able to control a ton of apps to the point where you can go through an entire day without ever opening your phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is powered by the Samsung Exynos 2500 Octa-core chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM, and is available in 256GB and 512GB storage capacities. The 4300mAh battery is a jump up from the Z Flip 6’s 4000mAh and 25W wired charging (10W wireless, both stats are the same as the Z Fold 7).
The camera lenses on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 look similar to the Z Flip 6, with a 50MP f/1.8 wide lens and 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens on the rear (which can be used like your selfie cameras when the camera is closed or even partially folded). The front-facing camera is still a 10MP f/2.2 as well. It’s in the processing, aided by Samsung’s provisual engine, where you are going to see the biggest leaps in this phone’s camera quality. It remains a great option for the social media-savvy.
Both phones offer seven years of OS and security upgrades and can connect you with Gemini Live, the fantastic tool that, through live chat and the use of your camera, becomes so much more than a simple assistant. Use your camera to get a sense of how your outfit looks. Is it right for the occasion? Is there something better to wear? Gemini will tell you and give you suggestions if needed. If it can see a shirt worth wearing, it will tell you to grab it. Do you need step-by-step instructions on how to change spark plugs? It can do that too. It’s quite the tool.

Then, you have your watches: the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 is designed for the fitness seeker, and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is for the lover of high-tech. The Watch 8 is Samsung’s thinnest watch design ever, with a new dynamic lug system that creates less of a gap between your wrist and the watch. The Watch 8 is available in Graphite and Silver, while the Watch 8 Classic is offered in Black and Silver.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 features a 325-435mAh battery with a cushion design and serves as a powerful health assistant, offering sleep apnea detection, ECG, advanced heart monitoring, and the ability to measure antioxidants and vascular load. The Samsung Watch Classic can do the same, but has some key design differences, including a rotating bezel and quick button for faster access to your favourite apps. It also has a 445mAh battery and a new haptic motor for better feedback.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series features a brighter design with 3000 nits of brightness, allowing direct access to Samsung AI and Gemini features from the watch. The Now Bar, similar to its function on Samsung Phones, will combine tiles from your favourite apps to keep you from needing to swipe around your watch too much. The new Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra offers improved performance and battery life compared to other watches, while also featuring 64GB of extra storage, enhanced brightness, and a Titanium Blue design, similar to the Watch 8 and Classic.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 will cost $ 1,462.99 CAD for the 256GB version, and the 512GB version will run you $ 1,642.99. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will cost $ 2,499.99 for the 256GB version, $ 2,679.99 for the 512GB version, and $ 3,039.99 for the web-exclusive 1TB version. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 is available in a price range of $499.99-$629.99, depending on the size and whether it is the Bluetooth or LTE version. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra will run you $879.99.
With the announcement of this new line of Samsung devices, people will have a lot to get excited about. This new line of phones will be lighter, feel better in your hand (or on your wrist) and come with all of the latest AI tools that make life a whole lot easier. We look forward to going further in-depth on all of these devices in the near future.
