On Thursday, the 2025 Oscar nominations have been fully revealed with an official release date for the 97th award show ceremony landing in March.
The full 2025 Oscar nominations have been announced. For the 97th annual awards ceremony celebrating the best in film, Wicked actor Bowen Yang and actress Rachel Sennott (Bottoms) revealed the nominees on a livestream early Thursday morning directly from the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre. The 2025 Oscar nominations were originally scheduled to be revealed earlier on Jan. 17, but the aftermath of wildfires in Pacific Palisades, Altadena and other areas around Los Angeles extended the voting window for the awards ceremony.
This year, the academy foreseers have predicted Netflix’s Emilia Perez to lead the charge in overall awards with 13 total nominations overall, potentially taking the International film nomination title away from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) and Roma (2018) who have each notched 10 in their belts. Nominees Emilia Pérez, along with other non-English film I’m Still Here, marks only the 10th and 11th time a non-English local language film has received the nod for both International Feature Film and Best Picture.

Interestingly enough, in eight out of the past ten years a non-English performance has received the nomination for acting categories, with Karla Sofía Gascón and Zoe Saldaña in Netflix’s Emilia Pérez, and Fernanda Torres in I’m Still Here. Further bolstering the 2025 Oscar nominations list, the 97th Oscars ceremony will be the sixth consecutive year when at least one film has received the nod for Best Picture, that has been directed by a woman with Coralie Fargeat’s nomination for The Substance being the 10th nomination overall. This shows the constant call-outs for the Oscars to be more inclusive in the past few years have not fallen on deaf ears.

The 97th Annual Oscars’ ceremony will be held on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, and fans will be able to tune in live on ABC, or streamed live on Hulu. Without further interruption, here are the 2025 Oscar nominations.
