With E3 officially kicking the bucket, Summer Game Fest has stepped in to fill the void left behind by gaming’s biggest showcase. In true form, the showcase managed to be an exciting, incredible display of creative and interesting-looking games. In case you happened to miss the show, CGM has you covered with all the major announcements from Summer Game Fest 2024.
Lego Horizon Adventure
The iconic PlayStation survival game gets a silly Lego adaptation to coincide with the physical Lego sets based on Horizon: Zero Dawn. Featuring a more family-friendly look and gameplay, Lego Horizon Adventures launches on Playstation 5 Holiday 2024.
No More Room In Hell 2
In the sequel to the 2011 award-winning Source mod, players start isolated in the dark, find their friends and survive in a dynamic, endlessly replayable zombie apocalypse, complete with permadeath. No More Room In Hell 2 will launch on Halloween 2024.
Harry Potter Quidditch Champions
Based on the fantasy broom-flying sports game from the Harry Potter books, Harry Potter Quidditch Champions puts players on the field in this upcoming sports game based on the beloved books. While not a lot of details were given, the game launches for consoles (excluding Nintendo Switch) and PC on September 3rd.
Cuffbust
A silly prison break simulator with adorable animal inmates called Jailiens was developed by the creator of Choo Choo Charles. CuffBust may launch in 2025, however, the trailer suggested that may be tentative.
Star Wars Outlaws
During Summer Game Fest 2024, players were given an extended look at Ubisoft’s open-world action-adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars Outlaws will launch for console and PC on Aug 30th, 2024.
Neva
From the creator of GRIS, Neva depicts the moving tale of a young woman, Alba, and her lifelong bond with a magnificent wolf as they embark on a thrilling adventure through a dying world. No release date was given but the game is set to release in 2024.
Civilization VII
Coming to PC and Consoles in 2025, the newest entry in the Civilization series showed a sweeping cinematic trailer highlighting the greatest achievements in mankind—which was thematically accurate to the game.
Metaphor ReFatazio
In what looks like the spiritual successor to Persona, Metaphor: ReFantazio showed off more acclaimed creator Studio Zero’s iconic character bonding and monster channelling gameplay—though Metaphor: ReFantazio looks to be taking a more action-oriented style of gameplay. Metaphor: ReFantazio will launch on Oct 11, 2024.
Batman Arkham Shadow
Batman: Arkham Shadow is an official new entry in the Arkham franchise, featuring the same blend of exploration, stealth, and free-flowing combat the series is known for. But by utilizing the Meta Quest, you can really feel like Batman.
Street Fighter 6
The newest season of Street Fighter 6 introduces Fatal Fury’s Terry, Mai, and Elena as well as the series’ iconic villain M.Bison. No release date was set for the DLC expansion.
Tears of Metal
Tears of Metal is a medieval hack-and-slash co-op roguelike. Carve through hordes of enemies to reclaim your island with the help of your formidable Scottish battalion. Each run, you’ll discover destructive powers and find new ways to combine them and unlock additional playable characters, items, permanent upgrades and more. Tears of Metal will be coming to PC in 2025.
DragonBall Sparking Zero
The newest exciting entry in the DragonBall Budakai Tenkachi franchise, Sparking Zero showed off a ton of incredible action gameplay as well as the multiple storylines spanning the entire series. DragonBall Sparking Zero will be released on Oct 11th, 2024.
Delta Force: Hawk Ops
Delta Force: Hawk Ops is the latest installment in the classic shooter franchise, Delta Force. The game will be available free-to-play on PC, consoles and mobile, and will feature three exciting, distinct game modes: Large-Scale PvP Mode, Extraction Mode – Hazard Operations, and Campaign Mode: Black Hawk Down. An alpha Test for Delta Force: Hawk Ops will begin in July.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
The newest entry in the Fatal Fury franchise showcased a lot of the game’s flashy and intense action. New to Fatal Frame: City of the Wolves will be Vox Reaper, a street assassin on a mission; and the returning fan-favorite B. Jenet. No release date was set but Fatal Frame: City of the Wolves is expected in early 2025.
Horror Games from Blumhouse Games
Showcasing an incredible lineup of new horror games that ran the gamut in style and gameplay. These games include Fear the Spotlight, SLEEP AWAKE, Crisol: Theater of Idols, The Simulation, Grave Seasons, and Code Name: Project C.
Power Rangers Rita’s Rewind
This four-player beat ’em up perfectly evokes the feeling not just of the Power Rangers, but iconic 90’s gaming. A fresh adventure with an original storyline that both respects and remixes POWER RANGERS lore with scenarios and gameplay that will be both familiar and new to MMPR fans.
Deer & Boy
In what seemed to be a theme for Summer Game Fest 2024, Life Line Game Studio debuted its emotional and beautifully crafted side scroller featuring a boy and his deer set in a dangerous world filled with wild and spiritual animals. No release date was set for Deer and Boy.
Kingdom Come Deliverance II
The long-awaited sequel to the award-winning action-RPG, revealed a brand-new trailer this year at Summer Game Fest. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S later this year.
Slitterhead
Summer Game Fest 2024 finally revealed gameplay of ex-Silent Hill developers Bokeh Game Studio’s Slitterhead. Showcasing a wide combination of body swapping and intense horror action that channelled the anime Parasyte, Slitterhead looks to be defying all expectations. Slitterhead will launch on Nov 8th, 2024.
Killer Bean
What started as a silly animated movie has evolved into an intense third-person roguelike shooter. Starring an anthropomorphic coffee bean assassin, players will take down the Shadow Agency using every action-movie trope available. Killer Bean goes into Early Access Summer 2024.
Cairn
From French indie studio, The Game Bakers is happy to announce Cairn, their new creation after the award-winning Furi and Haven. Cairn is a realistic mountain ascent adventure with an intuitive climbing simulation that lets players climb naturally, seamlessly moving arms and legs. Cairn is scheduled to be released in 2025 on PC and consoles.
Wanderstop
From the creator of the Stanley Parable, In Wanderstop, players take on the persona of Alta, a fallen fighter, who must manage a tea shop within a magical forest and tend to the customers who pass through. However, Alta doesn’t want to be at the tea shop, and if Alta gets her way, the tea shop will be nothing but a brief and painful memory. A tentative 2024 release date was set for Wanderstop.
Black Myth: Wukong
Showing off a new CG trailer highlighting the game’s development progress as well as a glimpse into The Destined One’s legendary journey and the formidable challenges that lie before him. The trailer also showed off an expansive physical collector’s edition players can pre-order ahead of the game’s August 20, 2024. launch on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Unknown 9: Awakening
In the new trailer, players learn that Haroona has always relied on her beloved mentor Reika’s teaching to help her master abilities related to the Fold, a mysterious dimension that overlaps our own. Unknown 9: Awakening will be released this fall on all consoles (excluding the Switch) and PC.
Enotria: The Last Song
An upcoming Soulslike inspired by Italian folklore, Entoria: The Last Song showed off a brand new trailer during Summer Game Fest 2024. Enotria: The Last Song will launch for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on September 19, 2024.
New World: Aeternum
During Summer Game Fest 2024 Amazon announced the newest expansion to its MMORPG New World. In New World: Aeternum, shipwrecked explorers wash ashore and set out to forge their destiny on the supernatural island of Aeternum, a world filled with danger and opportunity. Also announced in this trailer was New World’s jump to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S with new features tailored to console play. New World: Aeternum will launch on Oct. 15, 2024.
The First Descendant
The First Descendant is a next-generation third-person co-op action RPG looter shooter featuring high-quality graphics developed using Unreal Engine 5. Showing off a brand new trailer, The First Decedent will launch on July 2nd, 2024.
New Publishing Studio from Among Us Creators
During Summer Game Fest 2024, Victoria Tran and Forest Willard took to the stage on behalf of Innersloth to announce their newest venture: Outersloth. As a way of promoting and publishing promising Indie games, the two showed off some incredible new indies including Project Dosa, ONE BTN BOSSES, Rogue Eclipse and several more.
Mecha Break
The new trailer for Mecha Break showcased mech designs from esteemed artists Takayuki Yanase (Metal Gear, Gundam, Armored Core, Death Stranding) and Junya Ishigaki (Xenogears, Gundam, Macross). Featuring hi-tech mechs and fast-paced battles with up to 60 players, Mecha Break‘s Beta Test will begin in August 2024.
Sonic X Shadow Generations
In this new trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations, SEGA not only showed off much of the original game’s incredible gameplay but also new mechanics and levels for the iconic antiheroic Hedgehog. Sonic X Shadow Generations launches on Oct 25th, 2024.
Dune Awakening
Funcom’s highly anticipated Open World Survival MMO, Dune: Awakening. Dune: Awakening will take place in an alternate timeline to that of the books and movies. Funcom showed off a new cinematic trailer highlighting the way choice will play into the game.
Battle Aces
Uncapped Games announced Battle Aces, a new action RTS game for PC that aims to unlock the core fun of RTS games for a wide audience with a design that’s truly easy to learn and difficult to master for any player. The Battle Aces closed beta begins later this month, with registration open now.
The Finals
Season 3 of The Finals will transport players to the lush Kyoto Valley in Japan for an epic showdown. Nestled against a steep mountainside in the lush Kyoto Valley, the new Kyoto 1568 arena features a network of interwoven 16th-century temples, gardens, and dense bamboo forests—in contrast to the modern urban arenas The Finals is famous for. Season 3 of The Finals launches June 13th, 2024.
Alan Wake II DLC: Night Springs
With a perfectly thematic trailer reflecting 80’s horror films and Twilight Zone, the DLC for the award-winning Alan Wake II showed off more of the game’s combination of horror, comedy and action. The DLC was made available on June 8th, 2024.
Kunitsu Gami Path of the Goddess
Showing off a bit more of the incredible style and intense Action Strategy gameplay, Capcom’s Kunitsu Gami: Path of the Goddess showed off a bit of the character Soh. Kunistu Gami: Path of the Goddess launches on July 19th, 2024.
Hyper Light Breaker
From Heart Machine, the award-winning team behind critically acclaimed titles Hyper Light Drifter and Solar Ash, comes Hyper Light Breaker, a new co-op rogue-lite adventure set in the beloved Hyper Light Drifter universe. No release date was given, but Hyper Light Break is set for late Summer.
Skate.
With a comedian trailer featuring Tim Robinson, Skate. announced console playtest coming this Fall. Skate. is still being developed, showing off a bit of gameplay, but not a lot of details, however, there will be console playtesting this Fall.
Palworld: Sakurajima Update
In this new update to the acclaimed monster-catcher/survival crafting sim, a whole new island will be added to Palworld alongside new Pals to catch and new features such as dedicated Xbox Servers, new buildings and level caps, new subspecies of Pals, a new Raid and Stronghold, as well as an Arena mode—likely for PVP. The Palworld Sakurajima Update will launch on June 27th, 2024.
Valorant
Riot Games announced that VALORANT, its popular, free-to-play, 5v5 character-based tactical shooter, is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation5. Valorant is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Limited Beta starts on June 14th, 2024.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Showcasing more gameplay after Sony’s State of Play, showing the way Monsters interact with the environments, and face off against swarms of other monsters. Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release in 2025.
Phantom Blade 0
Showcasing the incredibly fluid and flashy combat that blew people away when it debuted during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Phantom Blade 0 presented a full gameplay trailer that looks absolutely mind-blowing. While no release date was shown, it is still slated for a 2024 launch.
